Man shot in head
At about 12:55 pm today police and ambulance received multiple calls from people in the area of Kupe Street Orakei, reporting that a man had been shot and had been seen running from the area bleeding from a head wound. Witnesses described the weapon involved as looking like an assault rifle.
Armed police cordoned the area and commenced a search for the victim and the shooter.
The victim was located near the scene of the incident. He was taken to Auckland hospital by ambulance suffering from a wound to his temple.

Enquiries in the area revealed the name of person suspected of being responsible for the shooting, and police identified a house in Kupe Street as a possible address for the suspect. The house was surrounded and searched by Police however the suspect was not located.
Enquiries will continue to find the shooter. The victim has been checked by medical staff at the hospital and his injuries are not believed to be serious.
